Hello! I'm new here! Hope we all get along.

Hello all!
I am from the United Kingdom, Hope you all enjoyed the royal wedding!!
I started using Ubuntu in 2009 and from there to Debian and Arch.
I got in to Linux based systems because in 2009 my HDD died and had no way of using my PC for college. So I knew you could run Ubuntu off a CD in to memory without needing to install and so I did but what blew me away was the fact that everything worked out of the box, my scanners and printers and Wifi Dongles and without me needing to do a thing. Due to no money I could not replace my HDD and because it was an old IDE no PC world store had any. I used the Ubuntu CD for months. I could bore you with all the long details all day but i'm not here to write a book lol.

I haven't used a PC properly since 2016 and allot of my Linux Skills have gone down the drain so I am here to hopefully get some of that back and hopefully see someone who needs help in the forums and the problem they have rings a bell and I can help. Linux Lite has become my favorite distro because its implementation of XFCE is perfect and its got the right balance of preinstalled apps. Hopefully I get time to fly around these forums and chat to some people! Good day!

Hello!

I need help, as I don't know how other Linux users make packages (DEB or SNAP) out of open-source codes. Could you, please, easily explain to me how to do such things? Thank you in advance.

Welcome Desura!

I totally agree with you, if Linux distros didn't have Live Boots, I surely would have lost patience with the 50+ I tried.
I maybe even would have never found Linux Lite! 0.0

Cheers!

Bora da, Desura  Smile
A very warm welcome to the LL community from an ex-Bangorian!
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung[i] netbook) installed in [i]Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work
