Hello everyone.  Good to be back!  I'm trying to change the blue background of grub to a darker image on my hd.  I have installed grub customizer and attempted this several time using the new image as jpg and png format.  Neither one seems to stick around upon a restart.  I always get the blue image.  I have searched the net and found many suggestions, looked in the system folders for a clue, etc.  So, has anyone successfully done this?

In Grub Customizer, the JPGs and PNGs must meet certain criteria. If you also installed the grub2-splashimages package, you have several images to choose from in the /usr/share/images/grub folder. If you did not install grub2-splashimages, here's how:

In a terminal window [CTRL-ALT-T],

sudo apt-get install grub2-splashimages

You can add the new image on the left side of the 'Appearance Settings' screen by navigating to the/usr/share/images/grub folder. If none of them suit you, you can put one of them into the image editor of your choice, and turn it into a solid background color or something - which I need to do on this one here...

I do this every time I install GRUB. It makes it a whole lot easier (and more idiot-proof) for me to use Grub Customizer, as opposed to trying to edit the configuration files manually - and break something...
