[SOLVED-UPDATE] New Install - Issue Persists - Accessing NAS Share - "Read Only"
#17
Hopefully a final update,,

After some more research(Google)
I can now connect to Shares by Machine Name, rather than I.P addresses.

Here's the summary:
First:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libnss-winbind winbind
Then:
Code:
gksu leafpad /etc/nsswitch.conf
Then change the line:
Code:
hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns
To this, added "wins", apparently must be before dns:
Code:
hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] wins dns
Then re-boot

I have also left my edited "smb.conf" with the addition of
Code:
name resolve order = host wins bcast lmhosts
In the "global" section, just in case both are required.
