I did remember that i have a old laptop with linux lite 3.6 on it. Booted that up, was able to make a usb drive and booted the laptop using that. Then removed the changes i made to /etc/fstab and /etc/rc.local, rebooted laptop and it did boot without a problem. After that followed the instructions again for enabling trim and rebooted laptop without a problem. Trim also working again.
