Can't test LinuxLite 7.6 in a virtual machine

Make a note of the VM time when the install process is started and the time at which it freezes.
Also note the times at key points  e.g. when clicking next or continue during the install.

Once the installation sequence has frozen, open a terminal in the VM and examine the logs with journalctl
Replace hh:mmConfuseds with the start time.

Code:
journalctl -b --since hh:mm:ss

It might show something significant - but no guarantee.

As an alternative, you could try booting the 7.4 VM and perform an in-series upgrade to 7.6.
Would this allow you to do your testing on 7.6 ?
Yes, I'll try what you suggest. but looking at the clock, the time doesn't freeze when I try the installer (if I got the sense of the suggestion)
And no, I can't update the 7.4 version to the 7.6, when I try to update with the Lite Update I get a small popup telling "you are already running the latest release". And after some searches, all sites regarding Linux Lite says that the upgrade isn't possible directly, need a fresh install.
AI overview from Google: "You cannot directly upgrade from Linux Lite 7.4 to 7.6; a fresh installation is required to move between versions of the distribution. This is because, for new version series, Linux Lite News states that it's not possible to upgrade from an older version series to the newer one."
I'll post the extract from journalctl, but is a complicated period at work, so probably I'll do this late (note the hour of this reply)...
Thank you again.
