If your priority is to keep it simple and you don't intend to add a lot of applications, a default installation to the SSD should work for you. A fresh install of Linux Lite version 7.x will include swap space as a file and should leave about 25% free space on the SSD. As a swapfile is used (by default), choosing the size and location of a swap partition is not an issue.
The HDD can be used to save documents, backups etc.
4GByte RAM should be adequate for casual browsing with single figure tabs open.
