Linux lite welcome screen stays black

OK.  So instead of seeing a 'Welcome to Linux Lite' screen like this after logging in



you see a black window.
Did you get a similar problem when running the desktop from the Live media ?

Could the cause be that there is not enough RAM to load everything?

Difficult to tell, but if windows don't display properly, using the system will be difficult.
Do other any other software applications show problems.

How can I prevent the frame from appearing?

If you move your mouse over the black frame and the pointer changes shape from an arrow to a clickable pointer as you pass over the button areas you can try to disable it by using the image above and moving the cursor so that would be over the text 'Show this dialog on startup' (near the 'Close' button).
When the pointer changes shape left click just once.  This should remove the tick and stop the Welcome screen on later log ins.

If that doesn't work, let us know and we can try another method.
