I don't know how to mark the thread solve or even if I can, but...
I came across another ATI X16xx and this one worked fine.
Best guess is that the first one was a really low-budget/low-quality or weird OEM one, not even having a brand on it and all.
Of course, I'll blame it on the hardware because Linux Lite is amazing!
