Thanks justme2. After installation bootup from the internal 4GB SSD is quite a bit faster, probably around a minute. Quite acceptable and comparable to the Mandriva KDE3 that was on there previously.

But I ran into another "noob here" problem. I left the partitions the the same as for the previous installation. The 4GB SSD allocated to 3.5GB root & .5GB swap and the built in 64GB memory stick to /home. Ran out of disk space on root as soon as I tried to update the system...

Since it's got 2GB RAM, I will 1st get rid of the swap and move something else less used off to the 64GB stick. Preferably some mount that will not affect bootup times too much.

Any ideas on this scheme very welcome  Wink

Thanks ralphy, going from 7 inch then 12 inch (x2), to 14 inch and then to a 42 inch screen!
