I installed 32-bit for two aunts who were running sub 2 GHz dual core processors, and I upgraded them both to 4GB. Their machines run like new. They can't run Google Chrome, though. Google no longer supports the 32-bit browser for Linux. Thanks for reply, my processor is a dual core Intel Atom D525 at 1.8 GHz. I tried using live media for both 32-bit and 64-bit and found the 32-bit used about 20% less memory than 64-bit so I installed the 32-bit software and it is running very well right now. Much more responsive than the other distros I tired on this machine. It doesn't have a very powerful processor.
Try the Live Media for both 32-bit and 64-bit.
