Reinstall 2.8 without losing my settings
#8
Like LL-user said, the config files for those programs should be in your home.  They will be hidden files or directories under /home/$USER; or will be in the hidden ".config" folder in your home (/home/$USER/.config).

Open the file manager and use key combo <CTRL>+h to toggle viewing hidden files on/off.  Then look for files/folders for the programs you need.

If still not sure, post back with:
  • Exact names (spelled correctly) of each program you're talking about
  • Tell us how you installed each of them (eg. Synaptic Package Manager, with a terminal command, by adding a ppa, downloaded file from a website, etc.)
  • Then run the following command in a terminal and copy/paste the result back here for us to look at:
Code:
ls -la {~,~/.config}

Use the instructions on this post for copy/pasting terminal output into your reply.
