You may want to try a different icon theme such as the one at the following link.

I looked at this from the link you provided and it only showed the desktop icons so I guess my question is does or will this also change the system tray icons where the time,sound,network connection and battery reside? This is more of what I am searching for is for the tray icons but am willing to change them all up if necessary.
