Internet stops working after installing Nvidia graphics drivers.

It does sound odd, but there are reports that installing Nvidia drivers prevents the drivers for things like network adaptors and touchpad s getting loaded.
Seemingly credible suggested fixes involve experimenting with different linux kernels. I don't know if that is something you'd want to do, if not, then stick with the provided drivers. Edit - Test method added to post To check if this is what's happening, from a fresh install, do all the updates except the Nvidia drivers. Using Timeshift may stop you needing to reinstall. Use Timeshift to create a system image and give it a label. Check the network works, then open a terminal and run the following command. Code: inxi -Fxxxrz Copy the terminal output including all the results and paste it into this topic. Then do your Nvidia changes. After rebooting to a failed system, repeat the command above and copy the terminal output to a file. Use Timeshift to restore your system to the image you saved earlier. This should restore your network. If so, paste the contents of the file you made while the network was down into this topic.

Quote:driver: N/Ain the 'after' report indicates the drivers that run the network devices are prevented from loading following the Nvidia driver install. This explains the symptoms and matches some of the reports on the internet. There are some suggested fixes but unless you have a pressing need, my advice would be to not install the Nvidia drivers. Quote:if you can't find anything im just going to use a different distro at this point. thanks for the help though. You're welcome, sorry I don't have a definite fix. Bear in mind that the reports I found were from other distros so you may need to try a few.
