Have you tried uninstalling Openshot?
Code:
sudo apt-get purge openshot
Or have you tried going into Software & Updates (
Menu->All->Software & Updates) and unchecking those
http://ppa.launchpad.net/openshot.developers/ppa/...... entries under the Other Software tab?

If you can get the Install/Remove Software app to open (Menu->System->Install/Remove Software), you can uninstall Openshot that way, too. Within Install/Remove Software, search for openshot. Mark for removal anything with the word openshot in the package name. Then apply your changes.
* When done, close that window.
* Reboot
* Run Install Updates to see if it runs cleanly.
* If it does, then Lite Software may open cleanly.

removed openshot, rebooted, ran updates still get the error msg. when I run lite software.
"Updating sources has failed.
Refer to /var/log/lite-software.log
for more information."
and lite software never opens.

Sorry I'm just now seeing your latest response. Are you still getting the Failed to fetch errors on those ppa lines? If so, can you uncheck the related entries in your Update Sources?
Go to Software & Updates (
Menu->All->Software & Updates). Uncheck those
http://ppa.launchpad.net/openshot.developers/ppa/...... entries under the Other Software tab. Just the ones relating to openshot.
If you can't get Lite Software to open after that, then for added measure, can you post that lite-software.log file?

I unchecked the only file pertaining to openshot and ran lite software.
It gave me options to install or uninstall and exit. I exited and ran updates first.
I ran updates and then lite software, restricted extras was already installed but I installed it again, rebooted and still cannot view movies.

Ok. You're now able to get to Lite Software. So that's some progress. And you can use Lite Software to reinstall Openshot whenever you'd like.
What are you using to view movies? Is it VLC?
Do you really have 256MB of RAM as listed in your forum profile?

2GB should be fine if you're on 32bit version of LL. I am somewhat familiar with WinFF. I thought it was more of a converter than a player? What are you using to play the videos?
I had a problem with video using VLC Media Player at one time. When I fiddled with the Video Preferences (under the Tools menu), I was able to overcome my issue.

That's cool. VLC comes pre-loaded with LL, so maybe it got uninstalled at some point.
