I’m dyslexic and have always relied on Text-to-Speech (TTS) software with clipboard functionality on my Windows PC and laptop. Since switching my laptop over to Linux Lite, I’ve been searching for a reliable TTS desktop application. So far, I’ve only come across eSpeak and Festival, but the voice quality is awful. I installed them through the terminal, yet configuring them has been a nightmare.
At the moment, I’m using Read Aloud and ReadX TTS extensions in Chrome and Edge, which sound much better than eSpeak or Festival—but they don’t always work consistently.
Does anyone know of a good TTS desktop program for Linux that supports clipboard reading?
