Persistence Size - LL3 on 8G USB drive
#1
I have just successfully installed LL3 on an 8G stick using Linux Live USB creator on a Windows 8 e540 ThinkPad with 16G of Ram.  I am very impressed with this distro so far having used Puppy Linux in the past which I also think is a great - but for me as a Linux novice Linux Lite seems far easier to use.  My questions are:

1. How much drive space does the initial install use?
2. How can I tell how much space I have available for installing additional packages?
3. How can I tell how much space I have available for packages and "saved" files like text documents and spreadsheets etc.

As an aside I love that desktop and the fonts - a thing of beauty.

Initial install is under 6GB.

There is a disk usage utility in Lite Tweaks.  Search for Lite Tweaks from the Menu.

Thank you torreydale - I will explore.  Couldn't resist the temptation to install on. 32 G drive so I will have a play with the Lite Tweaks usage utility.

I have installed Dropbox, Spotify, Kodi, LibreCad, the restricted codecs, and the Web Cam application. I used the Lite Tweak accessory to establish how the memory on a 32G stick with 4G persistent memory.  I must admit I am surprised that It's indicating that I still have 25G of memory available - can this be correct??

Yes, I believe it is correct.  You could use the other features of Lite Tweaks (like Autoremove Packages and the other ones marked "Safe") to clear up even more storage.

I will have a clean up as you suggested. All I have to do is set up my printer now and I will have a fully functional system - but that's a topic for another thread.

Thanks again torreydale.  Solved.
