To be fair, this kind of bug in an update is thankfully pretty rare.  I think it's probably a good idea to at least "lurk" in the forums a bit before applying updates.  I would update only twice a week or so, to give it time for news to hit the forums and workarounds posted or updates fixed.

One thing I really liked about Mint (back when my aging hardware could run Mint Xfce) was the updater that helped me avoid bugaboos like this one.

Using Lite Tweaks, I restored package management to default. (I had changed it to USA Atlantic because I had read it would be faster.) Ran commands again in terminal and the grub update was available so I updated without any problem.

Coastie, the answer is in the 2nd command, 'If it does not...'

Run this check first:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
Code: [Select]
apt policy grub-pc
If it does not report in the first 2 lines:

Code: [Select]
grub-pc:
  Installed: 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.11
  Candidate: 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.11

The updated packages are not available in your Countries repos yet.

Run the above commands once a day until you show the above version.

Buggy version:

2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10

Fixed, updated version:

2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.11

When I run the above commands I get:

grub-pc:
  Installed: 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.9
  Candidate: 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.9

It looks to me that I am running 3.9 not 3.10 or 3.11. I usually check for updates once or twice a day. Does this mean I should update or not?
