Post: Re: LL boots up sluggish, becomes 'snappy' on logo...

Quick update. I fired up this laptop after two years -- now I have a use for it. It behaves as I remembered it. Naturally put on the latest LL, and was so surprised that the UI did not seem sluggish a...

Post: Re: Installing over Xubuntu

Thanks everyone, I hear words of wisdom everywhere. There is another option -- just leave it as is. I mean it works. Think I'll do that, work with the sources and migrate them carefully to this lapto...

They say if you can't reproduce it, it's not a bug. Well this is a bug. I was able to reproduce the problem in a Live Boot environment with just a few mouseclicks. Think that rules out a few things l...

Thanks Jerry, was not sure where this post belonged. But think I've found a likely suspect, and it's wireless. After a powerup boot, if I toggle the wireless connection off and on, all is well. Same ...

Post: Re: Browsers in Lite

I miss Netscape. Recall a great joke from SNL announcing a merger between Netscape and Yahoo. They are gonna call it Netanyahu! Have used FF for years but with the upcoming 57 update, never mind. Go...

Well, I've been trying this or that to nail it down, and the one reproducible step is that booting up from a power-off state triggers the problem. A reboot from the GUI, or log off/on it works fine. ...

What I see is sluggish UI behavior, for example dragging a window across the desktop, or hovering over a list. When dragging, the window lags way behind the cursor; when hovering it takes a perceptibl...

For starters, I'm a longtime window guy with enough Linux to be dangerous. I just put Linux-Lite on an old Toshiba laptop -- W10 was insufferable -- and am now delighted. Installation went without a ...
