I agree with Openshot suggestion by Moltke. An Appimage can be downloaded from the web site, no installation needed. Works great for me on LL3.8

I can't give you a definitive answer but the first thing I would do is upgrade to LL3.8, the last series 3 version.  ;)

I too have this problem on every laptop which has a trackpad.  I seem to remember that disabling the pad did not stop the problem, but I will now make a point of double checking because it is annoying...
