If it's the "Advanced" menu option you're talking about I always add the bottom line to my /etc/default/grub file to remove the clutter.

I just installed a saline-backup of Mint and Xubuntu and in neither one did thunar ask for permission to mount partitions as I expected.
If there's anything I can check in Mint just ask. |
