I just installed a saline-backup of Mint and Xubuntu and in neither one did thunar ask for permission to mount partitions as I expected. If there's anything I can check in Mint just ask.

A check box at the bottom I would always leave it off and auto return to make sure the stupid machine had done what I told it.
