@Wirezfree My problem is more with LL setting a non audio device as default. It seems to assume that anything attached to an HDMI cable does audio, monitors more often that not don't.

Volti is in my startup but I can't see it running in task manager and I have no icon in the notification area. Sound does work.

As the topic says basically after I login lightdm remains visible as a regular Window "form" with a close button. I basically have to kill it to make it go away.

If you're not running Virtualbox, remove any Virtualbox related stuff using Synaptic. Reboot.
