Hi, Jerry and LL community !
There is some way to upgrade to the 6.6 version from my current one (6.4)  without erasing my disk ?
Thank you for the project . . .

Hi! Another flawless upgrade.  Thanks again, Jerry, donation on the way.  My upgrade was from English 6.4 to English 6.6.  I'm downloading a fresh iso to test the French version.

Release Announcement

Linux Lite 6.6 Final is now available for download and installation.

This is one our largest releases on record since we began in 2012.

We've added 1000's of lines of new code in the form of supporting a large range of languages.
We've massively increased the number of language translations across the entire Menu and Sub-Menu system, by adding support for 22 Languages.
We had the time to take on a task of this magnitude so we used it completely.

If you speak a language other than English, we hope you enjoy a vastly improved and a more complete Linux Lite.

Support for 22 new Languages added

Chinese - Simplified
Portuguese - Brazilian

In the areas of:

Main Menu
Right click Menu
Folder Names
Linux Lite Application names
Desktop Icons
My Computer Menu names

Having completed a fresh install of Linux Lite 6.6, once you have restarted after the first login, full language support will be available across the entire Menu and Sub-Menu system. If there are still Menu entries that are not in your language, then consider contributing a translation to that developers software.

If you'd like to help out with Translations in this Series for the above mentioned areas, please go here and post a reply with your changes under your Language thread. We have already received a number of submissions and have integrated them quickly into Linux Lite. Thanks for helping the community out :) There is still much to do, but we've made massive improvements to date.

Lite Welcome

Thanks to your feedback, we've implemented a check to see if Linux Lite is running in a Live environment or not, and to only display the Install Now button if it is.

Plus many other tweaks and changes.

How do I know if my Windows PC has UEFI?

In Windows Search, type msinfo or msinfo32 and launch the desktop app named System Information. Look for the BIOS Mode item, and if the value for it is UEFI, then you have the UEFI firmware. If it says BIOS Mode Legacy, then thatís the firmware youíre running.

Secure Boot is supported, but unless you know exactly how to handle it, it is a P.I.T.A. at best so I am going to must disable Secure Boot to enable stress free computing.

Some helpful snippets from the latest Help Manual:

UEFI Support link -

Kernel: 5.15.0-82 ( custom kernels also available via our Repository for versions 3.13 - 6.5 )
Chrome: 116.0
Thunderbird: 102.15
LibreOffice: 7.5.5
VLC: 3.0.16
Gimp: 2.10.30
Base: 22.04.3

Known Issues:

Eject Media prompt is only available at the end of the UEFI install.
Desktop icons - English support only. - FIXED AND TRANSLATED
Dropbox: if you get an error, run the set up twice.
There is NO Grub Edit in Lite Tweaks in this Series for Linux Lite due to an unsolvable issue. Ubuntu will show in the Grub menu if you are dual or more booting. Try Grub Customizer if it annoys you.
Grub menu shows Linux Lite as 'Ubuntu'. See below for more on this.

- Open /etc/default/grub as Administrator.
- Comment out: GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian` and leave GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR='Linux Lite' uncommented.
- Should look like:
#GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
- sudo update-grub

Grub - press the ESC key whilst booting in UEFI mode after your BIOS has posted. Use the SHIFT key if running Linux Lite in Legacy mode.

Other Issues

Please tell us in this thread.

To see if you upgraded successfully to Linux Lite 6.6 open a Terminal and do:

> Menu, Favorites, Install Updates (you must reboot if asked to, otherwise continue to the next step)

> Menu, Settings, Lite Upgrade
> Reboot

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have Menu, Settings, Lite Upgrade do:

--- Code: ---sudo apt-get install --reinstall lite-upgrade-series6
--- End code ---

and, or:

--- Code: ---rm -rf ~/.local/share/applications/lite-upgrade.desktop
--- End code ---

then try Menu, Settings, Lite Upgrade again.

Having problems upgrading?

First thing to do is open a terminal, and make sure you have the latest version of Lite Upgrade.

  Candidate: 6.0-0040-linuxlite
--- End code ---

Reviewers in a VirtualBox:

Installing Updates does work with a Live ISO (ignoring the 'CDROM' errors). All features work as they should, once you have installed Linux Lite to hardware or a VM.
Once Linux Lite has been installed, add the following for a complete reviewing experience:

--- Code: ---sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-dkms virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-x11
--- End code ---

Don't forget the Guest Additions too!
Also, get the Extensions pack from here -
