If it means anything for both 4.8 and 5.0rc with the alienware doesn't fully boot with the open source nvidia driver.

For 4.8 it boots every 3 or 4 times.
Switching it to the nvidia driver fixes it without issues.

For 5.0rc it does not at all.

It is an alienware 13 r3 laptop w/7300hq cpu, intel 630 + nvidia 1050ti gpus.

I hope this info helps.

I'd love to be able to include the nvidia drivers on the ISO but that would cause it to bloat in size. What happens when you select to Install 3rd party drivers for graphics and wifi during install? If you're connect to the internet, it should pull those in and install them.

@minesheep please do:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt install libblockdev-crypto2
systemctl restart udisks2.service

and report back if that fixes it, I'll put it in the Final is it does.

Bugs

Cant install virtualbox via lite software or with apt. Audacity installed successfully with apt. I now use gnome-boxes temporarily. audio volume is also a lot harder to control, thanks to limited length pulseaudio. Opening encrypted volumes via gui is broken but manually using cryptsetup commands work.

Luks error (when trying to open volume with gui)
Code: [Select]
[b]Failed to mount "size Encrypted"[/b] Error unlocking /dev/sdx: The function 'bd_crypto_luks_open_blob' called, but not implemented!

The update notification, not my favorite but fortunately have more options than "always notify and force updates even if configured to not do so and don't care about what programs was open or unsaved data" When I realized that this is really the case with windows I stopped Using it. I no longer need windows or use it even if it is the only OS installed, because I have LL installed to usb drive to override that ((force)update) shit.

what is the new "writable" partition on my usb drive? I dont like my veracrypt partitions to be logged!... Oh I found it hitting esc and typing "exit" to grub gives the "old" boot menu where I can hit tab and type in " toram" (yes space included). This will copy LL live entirely in RAM (what I almost always do and have done). This makes it almost instant to check the md5sums (booting) as the needed files are already copied to RAM and don't need to be read from boot media again. What about making it default to copy to ram when there is enough 4gb+ or 8gb+ of RAM. Seems to work fine.

Ok, the file is called 'patchapt' If it is not in /etc/llapt/patchapt I most likely included it for the final and not the rc.

If it is there, run:

Code: [Select]
sudo /etc/llapt/patchapt
else:
      17 more sleeps

exit 0

:)

llpatchapt is a new systemd service I wrote to ensure the integrity of apt. This will hopefully translate to fewer Install Updates errors being reported going forward.

I can't remember if I added that in the iso or after rc1. I can't be more specific until I get home, sorry.

Looks like your /etc/apt dir is missing. Can't remember (not at my pc) if I included the llpatchapt service for that build. Do a whereis or locate for it.
