Release Announcement
Linux Lite 4.4 Final is now available for download and installation.
This release has a number of minor changes.

Changes:
Moved from Betas to RC releases. The RC releases Build number is the date of the actual ISO build eg. Build 24022019 - 24th February 2019. The RC information and Build number will only appear on the default wallpaper for that release, Login screen and the Live Boot screen. The positioning of the text is such that it allows room for desktop widgets like Conky and Lite Widget to appear uncluttered on the right. Finals will not have any build information on the default wallpaper.
RC Build wallpaper:

Updated the Papirus icon theme to the latest release.
Sound Juicer CD ripper has now been added to Lite Software. To get rip-to-mp3 support, Sound Juicer will also install the Restricted Extras package.

Volume level - the double level volume bug has been eliminated.
Removed all references to Google+ as that service is due to close down on April 2nd 2019.
We have moved from Sourceforge distributed servers to OSDN as OSDN will help to finance our project. Their systems and mirror choices are virtually similar.
Details:
Kernel: 4.15.0-45 (custom kernels also available via our Repository for versions 3.13 - 5.0)
Firefox: 65.0 Quantum
Thunderbird: 60.4.0
LibreOffice: 6.0.7.3
VLC: 3.0.4
Gimp: 2.10.8
Base: 18.04.2
Known Issues:
None as yet.
Please note:
RC1 was a solid release where no hiccups were reported. As such, this 4.4 Final is basically the RC1 with only the wallpaper changed. Therefore, if you have 4.4 RC1 installed but want the Final, RC1 IS the Final. One caveat, since there were no updates to the build from RC1 to Final, your first updates will be a big one.

Just installed on my VM to test it out.
Upgraded it from 4.2 to 4.4 without a hitch.
It seems a lot snappier than 4.2 so far.
-
Just did the update on my laptop and so far so good.
Its an old HP Elitebook 810 with i7 5600u, 12GB RAM, 1TB M.2 SATA SSD, Intel HD 5500
The major issue I had previously was when I connected it into its hp docking station and closed the lid sometimes it would not turn on immediately on the external screen. So far so good now.
-
Updated laptop and all running without problems.
-
Can you please post a link to the UEFI version?? I'm unable to build a boot USB for my Mac. I did boot and install before using the UEFI version for 4.2.64bit
Thanks!

-
Did image backups of my partitions, and got ready for the upgrade.
Upgrade completed in less than 4 minutes.
All working smooth and fast, as usual.
Thank you, Jerry and Team.
PS: The double-volume control is still up there on my top right corner.
-
Replaced LL2.6 on my partners laptop with LL4.4. I think it's a great improvement and she should really like it.

As you'll see in the announcement, double-volume control was not passed into the Upgrade. To fix, Menu, Session and Startup, Application Autostart, XFCE Volume Daemon - untick.

Yes, Jerry, I found that; but it's not v4.4. So no UEFI version of 4.4 yet. Any chance you know timeframe on when it might be built?
-
No need for a 4.4 UEFI build. There is only one UEFI per Series, you just upgrade it each time :)
-
For those of you saying you just did the Upgrade to 4.4, please remember to update your Forum Profile to show that you are now running Linux Lite 4.4. Ironically, that goes for you, too @Jerry . :D
-
No go on my new work desktop.
Intel z390 chipset motherboard and intel 9700k cpu.
As soon as I try and do a fresh install after selecting to startup LL from the usb boot drive it immediatly reboots the computer.
Any ideas?
-
Have now installed Linux Lite 4.4. Installation went without an hitch as you would expect with this OS.Was surprised just how quick the install was.

That's assuming that Jerry doesn't use LL 3.8 to manage his forum postings.
Just a thought.

My Forum Profile is correct and will always be. I'm on 3.8 because I have the perfect set up. Makes no sense to spoil it :)

Thank you to all donators and supporters, it's very much appreciated. Ad blocking on the main site is still around 50%. We can't introduce translations and other goodies until I go full-time on LL. I could go full-time on this tomorrow if ad blocking were even down to 10% :(

Four upgrades and two clean installs of 4.4 done.
Not a single issue.....Rock solid. :)

**Revised, I've updated now. I forgot about running the Lite Upgrade. I didn't see that listed in the Release announcement. It would be good if that was in the System area instead of Settings. I think I may have noticed in the System area. Love the OS as always.
Hi, I am running the LL 4.2 UEFI beta. I've run Install Updates. I still haven't been updated to 4.4. I ran this command in terminal, apt policy lite-upgrade-series4. The output is below:
lite-upgrade-series4:
Installed: 4.0-0030-linuxlite
Candidate: 4.0-0030-linuxlite
Version table:
*** 4.0-0030-linuxlite 500
500 http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite (http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite) diamond/main amd64 Packages
500 http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite (http://repo.linuxliteos.com/linuxlite) diamond/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Is there something I need to change to get updated to 4.4?

It seems there are connection issues from your location to the repository server. Try switching to a different mirror with Lite Sources app.

sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but ....
..suddenly I can see the images in the release announcement! Great. I don't think I have changed anything, maybe they're not on Imgur any more? On both Firefox and Brave.
Ps: Linux Lite 4.4 still running fabulously on 2 laptops!
-
8) updated from Linux lite 4.2 to Linux lite 4.4 on both of my 64 bit desktop, one Lenovo and one Asus pc, everything went just fine, i want to say thank you for all your hard work , hugs ! :-*
-
Timeshift will be in Ubuntu repos come 5.x One less PPA....woohoo! (leaves only the Gimp PPA)
-
Having trouble with internet connectivity. Have changed mirror a couple of times but to no avail. My system is up to date with 4.2 and I have the correct terminal output as advised.
Mike
Edit: I was checking another similar post and saw that somebody had installed cosmic. Just waned to let you know I am definitely on bionic.
-
Upgrade successfully performed today. I wonder if the problem yesterday was due to extremely heavy internet traffic due to political events in USA?
However, there is still a problem today: I tried to install updates after the upgrade, and got a message that I was unable to connect to the internet. I was, however, able to go online and use this forum, so not sure what's happening here.
Also, where are the new wallpapers?
Edit: rebooted and this time tried updates from the start menu as opposed to welcome screen. Process proceeded; system already up to date.
-
@mdiemer all is well now? If you have any more issues, please put them in the Support sections of the Forums, cheers :)

Unfortunately, there's no upgrade path to or from beta releases, per the release announcement for 4.2 and 4.4. You are going to have to do a clean install. Back up your files, note customizations you prefer and install the current 4.4 iso. Then install your backed up files, customize as needed and enjoy.
-
@Seeta K. Roopchandani @tek10 The UEFI isn't necessarily the same as the "Beta" versions and can be upgraded/updated...
1st run updates... Lite Updates -- let is install all and restart as needed..
2nd run Lite Upgrade it will upgrade the UEFI version ti LL4.4
:)

I'm currently running LL 4.2 on my Dell Latitude E6500 . When I attempt to upgrade to LL 4.4 , I get a message that indicates that LL cannot to the LL master repository. My internet connection is working correctly and I've change repos. in LL software software sources without any luck. I also ran the apt "terminal version check", it checks out OK to what's listed on the forum.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Mark
PS. my location is southeast US.
