Been with 2.2 Beta for some days now , great distro ( looks , performances , etc ) but sometimes it either unlog or reboot by itself  ! Haven t did it today yet , hopefully it s ok now , wonder why it had these issues .

I know it s Beta , so I don t really mind , not much differences as stated above . Had Linux Lite 2.0 before , never had issues with it .

Keep up the great work in there .

Hi Jerry. The testing is going well. I'm limited to vbox but haven't come across any issues. It seems the same as 2.0 but at the same time just a notch quicker and a bit more refined. I'm eager to see what surprises you have in store with the final release.

How it all going folks? For those that are testing, have you found any quirks, anomalies, bugs?

Thanks for the link. A friend of mine hated his new windows 8 machine and even threatened to throw it out the window. He wanted to try Linux Lite after I told him how great and easy it would be to use having come from an XP machine. We were going to run a dual boot system but it had UEFI.I have since bought a second hard drive and booted in legacy mode and installed LinuxLite to that. Windows 8 drive has been removed and can be replaced if he isn't sure. Its a shame PC manufacturers are making it so hard for free open source OS with their UEFI support. Hopefully you guys will crack it as I think LinuxLite is not just for old hardware its one of the best systems I have come across.
Good Job!

Does this release support  UEFI ?

Hi colinkx250, no it doesn't. It's a tricky implementation, one that we have yet to conquer. This video shows you how to do it, so it's certainly doable even without the UEFI support on the disc.

UPDATE: We've been working everyday to make this release stable and ready for the public. There are a number of changes still to come, we still have to update the Help Manual with new images and tutorials, an updated Lite Welcome has to be added, I've added the new login screen, and as usual there are some new surprises that won't be announced until final release day. I think you will like what we've done. 2.2 contains the most significant changes to the OS ever, without compromising on performance or stability. On the contrary, thanks to your feedback on what you want to see in regard to software and features, LL continues to evolve into a simple to use introduction to a linux based operating system.

The work never ends, there is still much to be done in the long run for example, better Install Updates implementation, less user interaction on the command line, simpler network sharing configuration as well as a few other little niggles that I know we can do better on. For me personally this is the most exciting LL development phase I have ever been a part of :)

Thank you and keep on testing!

also on my desktop i have screen savers disabled from startup and settings but my screen still blacks out here and there minutes idle not when going to sleep.

Go to Menu -> Settings -> Power Manager.  Click on "On AC" and/or "On Battery" and check the settings under the "Monitor" tab(s).  Move the slider all the way to the left to make sure it never turns off the screen.  By default, I think it is set to turn the screen off after 10 minutes of inactivity whether or not you have screensavers activated.

i have a hp elite book can i update in terminal or must this be downloaded and reinstalled over current 2.0? curious if i should wait, this is a spare machine not my desktop so if you want it to be tested on 64bit laptops and to see how it goes, or should i wait for an official release and will it be similar, should people who are smarter to overcome bugs be left to figure this out or would you like everyone to try it? i will try it on 64bit laptop not my 32bit desktop which loosing information would be damaging... do you have a set date that 2.2 will be officially released or ran into known issues i do not run ssd..

i'm excited to see what you guys came up with first i'm hearing of 2.2 is now :)
backup sounds like a great idea, i'm guilty of messing with a script and needing to format..
also on my desktop i have screen savers disabled from startup and settings but my screen still blacks out here and there minutes idle not when going to sleep.

issues i might benefit possibly or just test? thanks for making my favorite distro btw, very logical and practical way to take on linux. 2.2 sounds cool, hope to try it soon. have you ever considered having openvpn pre-installed so you don't have to update the machine to install it? tiny issue it installs fine after update more curious about the other two features i mentioned, one being my screen blacking out for no reason while idle for a min or two and backup!

One thing I would like to mention is that the 32-bit torrent I had trouble downloading from. KTorrent (KDE's torrent client on my other *unnamed distro* Linux laptop) reported that it received some "invalid" information from the Bittorrent tracker URL. The 64-bit version did download perfectly fine. Could have been just my connection though (it's 3G as it's the only thing available in my area, other than "slower than Molasses" Dial-Up).

This has been mentioned in the past, the best clients to use are Transmission and Deluge. Cheers Teddy :)
