Hi

Thanks for the 2.0 beta. I have installed in virtualbox and everything seems OK. The most exciting thing is the weather plugin works for this 2.0 beta now. It was not before 2.0 beta. One question is: where to find the directory of wallpapers now? It just shows 'xfce' folder on the desktop setup. It used to at the folder of ' /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops/'. I like linux lite very much because it fits my needs. Thanks and congratulation to the development team. I know the final release of 2.0 is out when writing this message.

Hello, i have another question,
Using 2.0 beta, I installed google chrome, (and chromium to test as well) and i am trying to get the shows on http://abc.go.com/shows     to play, but i get a error saying: Shockwave flash has crashed? i checked and chrome (and chromium) has the latest pepperflash installed, can anyone try this and confirm, is there a way to get the shows to play on abc.com and chrome? it works in winows and mac.

Also quicktime movies (not apple movie trailers) wont play in chrome or chromium either as in here:
http://www.apple.com/logic-pro/in-action/         Scroll down to:Nine inch nails take to the stage video, i get a message saying: Get quicktime?
Other than that everything is working great in beta 2.0, i am loving this OS, Thanks!
Tommy

Hello, Just installed 2.0 beta and think its fantastic! Almost have everything working. ( this is on a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop.

Im trying to find a windows replacement for my sisters laptop, so far i have tried Zorin os and Linux Lite 1.0.8
So far i have everything working except: System sounds (ex - Start up and shut down sounds, minimize and maximize windows, log on, log off, error ect... )
i have enabled: Event sounds under appearance Settings, tried to install some Canberra Stuff? Still no system or event sounds?
So far i am loving this OS and think i can get some people to switch to it, just need to get it working as close to windows as possible, so if anyone could point me in the direction i would appreciate it.

I have done numerous google searches spent a few hours trying things and still no system sounds working
(all the other sounds work, youtube, music, video, etc...
Keep up the great work this Os is going to be awesome!
Thanks,
Tommy

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro laptop Si1520 + V3405
Summary Amilo pro Si1520 & V3405  Similar spec but different multi function keyboards to keep space/size down.
Live CD  LL 2.0 32bit Default keyboard layout English US.
On both of the keyboards numbers letters and symbols are intermixed making testing of wifi  ( password login) nigh impossible without detailed  testing of what key does what  via libre write.
Doing the menu-settings> keyboard >layout> Unclick defaults and set  model ( Fujitsu siemens amilo)>Layout (English UK).  Does not solve problems
Menu>settings>Language Support ( English UK, English  makes no difference as package can't connect to the internet

Is there a way that this can be got round simply- as Live CD are the first “proving Ground” for a first  tentative look at LL.

For the the Full install on the Amilo Si1520, following the above procedures did improve things but left with English US keyboard and its key differences..
HOWEVER if then menu>settings>keyboard input methods >advanced and tick  Keyboard Layout to ”use system keyboard layout “  and then restart. Keyboard appears to adopt UK English layout although icon  ( bottom RHS screen) still states English US.

Have not tried this full install on the Amilo Pro 3405 as need it for backup and its keyboard layout is slightly different from the Si1520

Keyboard test. Lower case then upper case

Feel free to report them here.

Hi Valtam,

Minor issue...
I have enabled the Desktop icons for File System, Home and Rubbish Bin.
I position them on the Desktop where I want them,
on re-starting they default back to top left of screen.

On 1.0.8 they remain in the in the position I place them.

Thanks... Dave

Position your icons where you want them and try ticking 'Save session for future logins' on the shutdown dialog.

Hi Valtam,

That works, I also tried the method from "nlube" which also works.
I actually have stuck with the nlube method, no offence Valtam ,
It seems more logical to do it with the desktop config file, given it's the desktop config

Thanks... Dave

If saving the session doesn't work (Valtam's suggestion), you could try this:

Ongoing Live CD tests
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo V3405 and Si1520  Similarly spec 2 GB RAM + Intel Dual core 1600.
Have complicated all functioning keyboards. Not identical layouts.   Both currently running on Mint 13 - with no particular set up problems.  UK English
wifi  internet works etc no problems connecting.
Have not needed to test blue tooth or the other  keys so can't comment on whether all the options function

Live cd LL..2.0 - can not find a way to get keyboards to function properly under live CD   (  by mess = see below)- Hence unable to log onto wifi  etc.

Therefore took the plunge and installed LL2.0 over Mint - clean install on the Amilo Si1520.  Installation smooth although finding the English UK  keyboard option (and layout routine typing in various keys and answering yes/no questions during installation) was not intuitive IMHO.  Might put off a less determined newbie.

After installation keyboard output was still a mess  .  Hence went into menu>settings>keyboard>layout - unclicked  default and then keyboard model - Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop option and then English(UK) layout closed and went to keyboard icon  on lower right of screen and still showed English US

Typing still gibberish. in that alt key function seems the be the default.?
Therefore rebooted.
Keyboard now seems to have overcome the locked alt on position but still showing/behaving as  English US

Any ideas please. Ta

Went inrio menu>settings>keyboard
