Since I bought a SD card to free my storage space at my SSD, I had operational troubles. At first, my LL didn't recognize the SD card. I did a research, and eventually solve the problem. But afterwards my laptop started to freeze at the time I put the SD card in the slot !

I'm confused by this.
A system that doesn't recognise an SD card being inserted is better than a system that crashes/freezes when the card is inserted.

What were the operational troubles ?
What did you do to resolve the problem ?
What happened between you fixing the first problem and the start of the freeze/crash problem ?
Can you revert to the original set up ?

Other / [ SOLVED ] Instantaneous freeze at putting a SD card in.

Hello, people !

Since I bought a SD card to free my storage space at my SSD, I had operational troubles. At first, my LL didn't recognize the SD card. I did a research, and eventually solve the problem. But afterwards my laptop started to freeze at the time I put the SD card in the slot ! My LL is updated. This SD card runs smoothly at other devices, like my smartphone and my tablet.

If this helps someone who wants to help me, this is my inxi -F --filter:

Other / How to speed up my cpu
« Last post by Edimion on April 09, 2024, 08:38:24 AM »
In my case I don't want to risk my cpu or other parts of my computer,

But for people with that "patience" and perhaps some experience with that on another OS

That's the questions:

First, is there a way to speed up the cpu on Linux Lite? :computer
is that a different method if we have a different hardware?

Please explain that detail, Thanks in advance

The release schedule shows version 6.8 releasing 2/1/24.  Will it release later in the year?

Installing Software / Re: Error while trying to install something on the terminal
« Last post by gaas on April 08, 2024, 01:11:16 PM »
You may be getting distracted by cpufrequtils.
From what I've read here, it seems the problem relates to dependencies associated with linux-tools-common.
cpufrequtils doesn't have any link (as far as I can see) to linux-tools-common

I don't think that cpufrequtils got installed - the uninstall command couldn't find it.

Il pacchetto "cpufrequtils" non è installato e quindi non è stato rimosso
Trying to install cpufrequtils may have been the first time you noted apt reporting a problem.

The inference I make is that something installed *before* cpufrequtils has caused the dependency issue.

If you search the command line history before cpufrequtils, you may find something.
Or if you were using the GUI, we may need to look into other logs.

Unless we find the root cause, we can't try to fix it.
It may be more efficient to re-install.

I reinstalled linux, didn't have any important files anyway

"an attempt to run updates on a system booted from a 'Live image' media" was the cause. Thanks for the help. Peter

The error message posted looks like an attempt to run updates on a system booted from a 'Live image' media.
A system running a Live image is not intended to be updated.
Once the OS has been fully installed to an internal disk and rebooted the update should work.

If you are still getting this error after fully installing the OS to disk, removing the live image media and rebooting, then please provide more details.

A Live image is typically a USB drive or a DVD created by burning an ISO file using something like etcher or rufus and is for limited use, such as testing the hardware or using as a base for a full installation to disk.

If it is intended to run the OS from USB (rather than installing to a disk) extra steps are required to create a 'persistent' image when preparing the USB drive.
