Thanks for the info!

I can relate to the situation. I had my own share of "taugh ones" in the latest 14 months, so I know how it feels and how it goes.
I'm sure that the little extra-time put into LL 7.0 will well worth it!
In România, there's a saying: "Patience and tobacco!;D

Best wishes, Șerban!

For the laptop (actually, a netbook) ASUS X200MA there is an entry back in 2022 I guess.
I found it searching for "Intel Celeron N2830".
It is the machine I used to make the videos posted here, running some 6.x series on this machine.
It's still working acceptable. I'm eager to test LL 6.8 on the same machine. When done, I hope I will release a new video to showcase the use of Linux Lite on older machines (This one is from 2015, so, nine years ago...)
I'm posting this since I saw many people here interested in reviving old machines and I guess this kind of configuration is a good overall image on what Linux Lite is capable of doing "on a shoestring budget".
You can also find lots of other machines using this CPU in the Hardware Database.
The only change I made to the standard configuration is storage. I replaced the HDD WD 500 GB with a SSD Kingston A400 480 GB (Same SSD model as on Dell T1700).

One thing more:
I reminded that in some posts, people supposed that there are losses of storage.
The real meaning of "480 GB", is actually 480 x 10E9 Bytes.
Now, if you divide three times with 1024 to get the real value, you get 447,03 GB which is the exact value reported by inxi.
Nothing lost. Just marketing strategy...

Best regards,Șerban!

Other / Running warpd (keyboard based pointer control) crashes GUI
« Last post by hckr1123 on March 09, 2024, 05:58:59 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, so please guide me if I miss something that I should be following so that I can make the necessary corrections.

I am trying to run warpd (a keyboard based pointer control application): https://github.com/rvaiya/warpd
There are no issues installing it, after installing it, when I run it the GUI (X server?) hangs up.
(cursor moves but cannot click anything or interact with anything and nothing responds to any key press)

To recover from this, I am having to access a tty terminal (using Ctrl+Alt+F4) and then kill 'warpd' manually. After killing the process, the GUI recovers back to normal from the hung up state without having to restart the system.

I note that this only happens with LinuxLite and I do not face this on Windows, Ubuntu, or Arch. I am not sure what in LinuxLite might be interfering with the working of this application. I felt someone knowledgeable here in the forum could help me out.

Anyone have a hunch what in LinuxLite could be causing this?

Off Topic / Re: I m install linux cause crush my windows - and you?

Also like mentioned earlier, if you search for Alexander Gleason's 1892 world map, you will get a real true map of our known world including oceans and lands/continents. There are so much more unknown lands and continents outside the Antarctic circle encircling our known world.

This is a joke right?  These topics are best left to some other forum where the stultus' hang out.

No, it's not a joke. We really have been lied to by the mainstream school system and mainstream media, including NASA. We actually live on a non-moving geocentric flat earth, like our ancestors said.

Linux Lite Software Development / Re: Linux Lite 7.x Series discussion
« Last post by lc6529 on March 08, 2024, 09:18:17 AM »
Looking forward to 7.0, I've been running the 5.x series and it has been flawless which is why I have been hesitant to reload but the time is coming.

Nice to haves are:

Gui for Clam AV as someone else mentioned.

Built-in VPN client that can be enabled, currently I use Windscribe which has a very nice GUI for Linux.
