@kp_auburn

It may be during the update, something went awry with the Kernel update..

When booting.. On the grub screen - Choose the Advanced Options for Linux Lite..
You should see options options for various Kernels.. something like LL.. 4.15.0-159, 4.15.0-156, 4.15.0-154 etc etc...
The highest/top most is the kernel its attempting to boot with.
- try choosing the next kernel (non recovery) and see if you can boot.. if not then try the next and so on..
So if 159 is failing try 156 then 154 etc..

Once booted - you can use Lite Tweaks to remove the failing kernel (159)
- then reboot go back to the top level grub - which will now boot with working...

Then you can trying updating once again...

Introductions / Hi

Hey all, I guess I missed making an introduction post previously. I am new to LL, but not to Linux, I've been using ubuntu linux and derivatives since 2009 when I started with Jaunty. I've used and experimented with a handful of different distros, but now I'm mostly just looking for something solid, stable, and familiar for my windows using family members. for me, LLite is the perfect combination of familiar UI and foss. Many thanks to the developers and maintainers.

Start up and Shutdown / Re: Login loop after recent update - can't access system
« Last post by kp_auburn on October 17, 2021, 11:42:38 AM »
I'm wondering if the zero responses my post received is due to the post being in the wrong place, not being tagged correctly or this login loop issue after update and not being able to get past the login screen is basically not fixable and my only option is to scrap the Linux Lite OS, loose all the data and start over. Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions or recommendations of what the next steps should be or what the best way is on this forum to get Linux Lite troubleshooting assistance?

Network / Plugged-in ethernet connection messes with boot
« Last post by Axel Lieber on October 16, 2021, 06:44:28 PM »
Hiya all, got my late-2011 Macbook Air all set up. Everything's good, and the OS definitely performs better than straight Ubuntu. Just one thing. With an ethernet connection plugged in (via a USB adapter, since this is an Apple) the machine will go through the usual boot sequence but once the swirling circle disappears, the screen goes black and stays black. Unplugging at that point doesn't help.

It's def the ethernet connection, other USB connections don't have that effect. It happens regardless of whether the wireless adapter is enabled or disabled.

Anything I can do to overcome this?
