Other / re-Touchscreen on Chromebook
« Last post by Jesse Bassett on Today at 11:11:36 AM »
So I successfully installed LL on a lenovo flex 5i chromebook. Everything works right out-of-the-box EXCEPT the touchscreen. Are there any commands I can try to enable the touchscreen on my laptop?

Updates / Re: NO_PUBKEY E88979FB9B30ACF2
« Last post by stevef on Today at 11:00:33 AM »
There may be a problem with the source repository - it is giving a 404 error which is odd..
I expect they will resolve it in due course.

In the short term - if you need to allow the updates to run, try this.

Click Menu and begin typing 'Software & Updates' in the search box
When you see 'Software & Updates' click on it.
In the Window that opens select 'Other Software' tab

Uncheck the entry for Chrome and enter your password to authenticate the change if asked.
Click Close on the 'Software & Updates' window and then 'Reload' to refresh the cache.

Then try update/upgrade again.  This should now skip the Chrome update.

Once done, I'd leave it 24 hours or so, then go through the above again but re-enable the Chrome repository.

If it isn't working then let us know.

bump...

Sorry to update this post. I'm afraid this is not a bug, nor a major one if it is.

As per the hardware section of the Linux Lite Help Manual, the distribution only includes a handful of open source drivers for some AMDGPU products. Setting that aside, nVidia GPUs don't really have a lot of fully functional open source counterparts.

This drivers can't be integrated to Linux Lite and set to run out-of-the-box due to licensing issues. It is a standard and a must to always check for proprietary drivers upon a clean install. You have to do it yourself, not the machine nor anyone would have to do it for you. It's just a couple of clicks anyways my fellow.

Cheers!

Installing Linux Lite / Re: BootDevice Not Found - acer aspire s7
« Last post by stevef on Today at 01:52:16 AM »
That's good.
If you haven't already done it, you may want to add your system to the hardware database.
You can do this by running 'Lite Info' under 'Settings'.

Also, it may be interesting if you show us what the disk partitioning and boot mode looks like now.
Please can you run the following commands in a terminal and post the results back ?
You will need to enter your password if asked.

Code: [Select]
lsblk
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l
Code: [Select]
efibootmgr
Code: [Select]
ls /sys/firmware/efi
Code: [Select]
df -h

Installing Linux Lite / Re: BootDevice Not Found - acer aspire s7
« Last post by tsu02 on April 24, 2024, 03:48:19 PM »
Hi guys
I've found a solution but you won't be happy because i dont know what happened ...

It was obvious that the main problem was this story of RAID.
Ive found some tips on the internet to try to take off it but without any success, apparently.

So i decided to give up and to install linux lite on an extern hard disk and again this device was damaged and impossible to do anything
Except one thing which is to see that strangely only two logical drives instead of three, md126 was disapeared
I tried to install LL with the classical installation (live) and it has worked.

So i dont know exactly how RAID has been deleted but now all is okay !

Off Topic / Re: My website certificate delayed
« Last post by Şerban S. on April 24, 2024, 01:44:34 PM »
Hi!

Well it's lovely April again, and renewal time again for my web services, along with tax time.

Well, I can relate to this...
My due time, is at the end of december.
Happy to say, I never had trouble with my provider so far, in almost three years (closer to four...).
The certificate renews without creating me "site is unsecure" things and works site-wide (including sub-domains).

[...] The fees went up again  [...] Just like everything else these days i/e $4.50 for a pound of butter,

This happens all the time...
Cheap butter, is 2,60 USD / 250 grams package. Considering 1 pound = 0,453,6 grams, we get... 4,73 USD/pound... Great, is it so?  :035:

[...] Wonder what's wrong with our system? [...]

The answer is in the Matrix X (X = 1... 4) series.
I remembered another interesting answer to "What's happening...?"

Best regards, Șerban.

Well it's lovely April again, and renewal time again for my web services, along with tax time. If you have https only enabled in your web browser my site might not load for you. Once again my certificate is delayed. If you're using firefox just click through and accept the risk. There is no risk. No adverts, no scripts, no data tracking, no anything harmful, just html documents about Linux. Sorry for the inconvenience. The fees went up again and caught my tightly wound credit card by surprise. Just like everything else these days i/e $4.50 for a pound of butter, yet more than a million gallons of price supported milk is dumped in Wisconsin every year, and the producers have to pay the disposers to do it. Wonder what's wrong with our system? Free enterprise works great, until it becomes government enterprise and has the opposite effect, i/e I made this and there's a demand for it, but now I have to pay somebody to get rid of it because my government controls my access to a free market by controlling my sale prices, so falsely created shortages can inflate prices of related products and support union sewerage workers with more work. I hate April.
