Package Update Indicator Is Useless - Mister User - 08-30-2025 The Package Update Indicator on the system tray always says it's up to date. However, if I do a manual update, Linux Lite says there are updates available. What is the use of the Package Update Indicator if it is not notifying me of new updates? What is the update refresh cache set to ? RE: Package Update Indicator Is Useless - stevef - 08-30-2025 I can't reproduce your symptom. When first logged into a freshly booted 7.4 test system (which is known to require updates and is set for twice daily refresh), the text 'Up to Date' shows when hovering mouse over the panel icon. However, within 3 minutes, a pop up appears announcing that the updates are available. The pop up has an 'Install Updates' button and it self closes with 5 seconds. Hovering over the panel icon after this point shows the text 'Important Software Updates' Have you made any changes to the default desktop/icons/appearance or modified any application auto start options ? RE: Package Update Indicator Is Useless - stevef - 08-30-2025 package-update-indicator works as expected for me. Unless I can reproduce the problem there's not much I can do. I can't find other reports that match the lack of function you are experiencing. Perhaps others may be able to help or add their reports if they see this. It is possible to run the package manually with a debug flag. This may provide information which would be of use to the package developer. In your position, manually running the update/upgrade as a daily routine is fine. |
