Recovering from possible bad update - LarryB1607 - 03-19-2020 There were some updates that I installed and my system got stuck at the picture of the feather. I did some research and found that if something happens, I should downgrade to an earlier kernel. Next boot I selected the advanced options and was presented with several. The top option was listed as: 4.15.0-91 generic. The 2nd option had the same numbers and included recovery mode. The 3rd option was listed as 14.5.0-88 generic and seems to work. It did seem to get stuck at loading ramdisk one time, but di not the next time. I checked for updates and it said that I was up to date. How do I get rid of the 4.15.0-91 generic offering. I have not as yet done enough reboots to see if my chosen downgrade is going to boot everytime. I am a total nube at Linux. Was OK with Win 7, but everything is so cryptic here. Thanks |
