How to synchronise files between lite and Win10 - Whatmemory? - 03-10-2020 Samsung LC10 notebook with XP I am considering installing Lite on the above LC10 as a learning exercise and as a way of extending the life of the LC10; maybe even to reinstate the use of Bluetooth. I don't know if dual boot would have any benefit. I would not be upset to see XP disappear into the sunset... My LC10 is a smaller version of my laptop, and to that end the program AlwaySync synchronises the Win10 file system with the notebook via shared folders. Providing the Win10 PC can see the shared folders it can sync with the LC10. Apparently Alwaysync can use ftp but I have not tried that. I was wondering if Win10 can 'see' a Lite file system to achieve the above? Comments welcome relating to the general aims expressed above, good or bad. Re: How to synchronise files between lite and Win10 - trinidad - 03-10-2020 Windows 10 automatically syncs with everything on a LAN OOTB -- a feature I find quite annoying on my network -- but to answer your question: yes Windows 10 can network with your Linux Lite file system in several ways such as Samba, SSH, VNC/RDP, even through it's own Linux sub-system in some cases. Cross platform networking is just a matter of deciding what you want to acheive with it. Sync is too vague a term for me to understand what you want to be able to do, i/e file sharing? remote desktop? secure file transfer? TCÂ Re: How to synchronise files between lite and Win10 - Whatmemory? - 03-10-2020 Thanks for your comment. That gives me some hope. The sync that I use is for files and folders where the aim is to maintain the latest data on two or more platforms when they are in my office together and connected by LAN (Wifi). Currently a selected group of files and folders on the Win10 and NC10 are kept up to date (syncd) so that I can work with the Notebook off-site, and on returning to the office, the files and folders on the two PCs can be syncd again. I'm the only user, so this process works well enough for me.
