New to Linux - Nathusius - 12-09-2019 Hello New to the Linux world, resisted it for too long, now i have Linux Lite installed I wonder why I waited so long. that said still finding the downloading of software confusing but gives me something to do during the cold winter months. Re: New to Linux - firenice03 - 12-10-2019 Welcome [member=10062]Nathusius[/member] Look 1st in Lite Software - can click menu and start typing Lite - it will auto populate.. Then you want to look in Synaptic - or Install/Remove Software These will get you the majority of your software - Look through these forums - there a couple threads of what Linux software matches MS.. Libre Office is installed by default - this is like MS Office... Also peruse the other "Lite" Apps for Tweaks and settings Re: New to Linux - Artim - 12-10-2019 [move]Welcome![/move] One of the best things about Linux is the way we get software: Not downloading from some web site (and hoping it doesn't have ads or spyware and stuff), but from secure repositories. If there is software you can't find in the repositories, just ask here in the forum about getting it safely for Linux Lite. Re: New to Linux - Nathusius - 12-10-2019 Thanks much for the welcome and the good advice for acquiring software, I am sure I will get the hang of it very soon.
