Flash Video Problem - Colin23erk - 07-17-2014 Just as I thought I had got my Lite 2 sorted I found a new hiccup ! I use Google Chrome Browser and it plays You Tube Flash Videos normally . If I try to watch BBC News videos -- Sound is normal but the video only shows occasional good still frames . The BBC Flash Video Player looks a bit different to the You Tube one Colin Re: Flash Video Problem - Scott(0) - 07-17-2014 Hi Colin I'm trying to reproduce your problem and so far have be unsuccessful. Please post a specific link that you're having problems with and I'll test it on my end. I've noticed Google Chrome was recently upgraded. Here's what I get on my two systems: System One LL 2.0/64/Virtualbox Chrome - Version 36.0.1985.125 System Two LL 1.8/64/Laptop Chrome - Version 36.0.1985.125 Are you using the same Chrome version, 36.0.1985.125? Re: Flash Video Problem - Colin23erk - 07-17-2014 Hi Scott This is a sample page that fails http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-28344066 Just checked Google Chrome and it is Version 35.0.1916.153 I originally had to use the download from Google because the " Install Additional Software Option 2 "did not want to set up . Just tried the Install Updates but no updates needed Then I tried Install Additional Software Option 2 which worked this time . After a Lite restart Chrome is now Version 36.0.1985.125 I used the link I have given you above and the problem still happens as it does with another one Colin Re: Flash Video Problem - Scott(0) - 07-18-2014 Quote:If I try to watch BBC News videos -- Sound is normal but the video only shows occasional good still frames I need to take a quick step back and make sure I understand the problem. You mentioned "sound is normal but the video only shows occasional good still frames." Does that mean the video stutters on playback or something else? Re: Flash Video Problem - Colin23erk - 07-18-2014 Hello Scott Yes Stutter is a good way to put it . Another way is it shows a still frame then jumps to one further on throughout the clip . Sounds to me as if it is loosing sync but manages to get an odd frame to sync and update the display . Colin Re: Flash Video Problem - N4RPS - 07-18-2014 Hello! Low bandwidth and/or low PC resources can both cause choppy video. Is it ALWAYS choppy, or is it better at certain times od the day than at others? Your shortcut played fine here on a LL 2.0 LiveCD, but I'm on a quad-core netbook with 4 GB RAM and a 12 Mb/s Net connection... 73 DE N4RPS Rob Re: Flash Video Problem - Colin23erk - 07-18-2014 Hi Rob Do not think it is resources as You Tube runs OK . My Samsung is Quad Core and 2Gb Memory . My internet is generally OK and the problem is always there . . If I use Firefox the video runs normally . There have been problems with Chrome and Flash but You Tube works but not the BBC . Could it be to do with Frame Rate or Frame Size Colin Re: Flash Video Problem - Scott(0) - 07-18-2014 Quote: If I use Firefox the video runs normally .Well, you answered my next question. Which makes me wonder if it's possibly a setting or an addon/extension causing interference. Incognito Any difference good or bad if you run the video in an incognito window? For incognito in Chrome go to Menu button (top right corner) > new incognito window Plugins Anything look unusual? I'm wondering if the Chrome installation difficulties caused plugins to duplicate or generally not install properly. Here are the plugins I'm running, enable/disable to experiment. To view plugins copy and past this into a new chrome tab/window Code: chrome://plugins Here's a picture of my plugins page ![]() Click to play setting This setting will make it so a click on the video is required to begin video playback on any webpage. This can help performance in certain situations. To view extensions paste this into a new chrome tab/window Code: chrome://extensions/ At bottom click of settings section click "show advanced settings" In Privacy section click button "Content settings" Scroll to Plug-ins, change option to "click to play" Here's a picture of the setting on my computer ![]() UPdate Re: Flash Video Problem - Colin23erk - 08-28-2014 Hello all I have waited a while to see if anyone else has had the same problem but I seam to be on my own . Today even after installing the latest updates and trying Scott@s suggestions I am still getting Audio OK but the Video Stuttering when viewing Videos on the BBC pages when I am using Google Chrome Browser . You-Tube Videos play normally on Chrome The BBC Video's play normally on Firefox Any help appreciated I can use Firefox when I need to but I prefer Chrome .
