how to install not using sudo? - dakota - 07-07-2014 hello sorry for such a simple question, but i have a copy of peazip and am curious how i can install it on a machine that is not online so no simple sudo commands... the file is peazip-5.3.1.LINUX.GTK2.tgz i also have a copy of winrar i want to install both do not have self installation when i try to open the file, if you can happen to know a site that explains how to install or the process in what to do i would be grateful. ![]() thanks, dakota Re: how to install not using sudo? - Scott(0) - 07-08-2014 Hi Dakota. For Peazip it was much easier to install using the deb package. Go to the download site here http://peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-linux.html and download the GTK2/DEB package. Now just right click on the file you downloaded peazip_5.3.1.LINUX.GTK2-2_i386.deb and choose "open with GDebi Package installer." Let me know if this works. I'm not 100% sure what will happen if the computer isn't online (I think GDebi will look for dependencies) but I'm pretty sure it will install. The ability to unrar a file is available by default. See "Creating and Extracting Zip files" in the LL user manual here https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/software.html#archive. |
