SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Peejay - 09-07-2017 Something strange: I changed my password in Lite User Manager to one incorporating $ * and = characters. When I tried to login again it was not recognised, but there had been a change of password. I checked Num Lock and I even typed the password in as a user name so that I could see it and then copied and pasted it into the password box of my user name, but it wasn't recognised. I then followed the Help tip in Lite User Manager and entered the password in with the passwd command and it worked fine. So I'm figuring that there must be something unusual going on with Lite User Manager. Alpha passwords seem OK, though I did only use very short passwords for that. I'm still on 3.4 at present and this is a single boot installation. Not a pressing matter but I thought it worth raising. ![]() Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Valtam - 09-08-2017 Thanks Peejay, I'll look into this. Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Valtam - 09-09-2017 Steps to re-create: Upgraded from 3.4 to 3.6, rebooted. 1. I created user 'bob' 2. I gave bob a simple password - 123456 3. I changed bobs password to $*=12ab 4. I logged out my current user and logged in as bob using the new password. I used the characters you listed so I'm unsure as to why yours did not work. Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Peejay - 12-29-2017 I'm back, sorry. I now have another user to add and am using 3.6 but am still having the same problem with User Manager. I had actually forgotten the previous episode. I've checked various things and have noticed that if I enter the password directly the password box accepts only the first 20 characters. I actually have 21. Pasting the password into the box makes no difference, so presumably User Manager is restricting the entry to the first 20 characters? Other authentication boxes have no such restriction so far as I can see. I'd be grateful if you could try to replicate this and if so advise if it's realistic to have anything done about it? I do of course realise that I could without harm restrict myself to 20 characters but if it is necessary a note to that effect in the Help Manual would be very useful. Thanks Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Valtam - 12-30-2017 Thanks [member=6497]Peejay[/member] I'll increase the character limit. Moved to Suggestions section. Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Peejay - 12-30-2017 Thank you, Jerry. Great response. As the cause of my problem is now clear I'll mark this as SOLVED. Re: SOLVED Password Change via Lite User Manager Not Recognised - Valtam - 12-30-2017 Your request was reasonable, logical.
