Re: What's the name of the software that creates a desktop URL link in LL3.2? - JmaCWQ - 02-23-2017 You are welcome. I remember quite a while ago I wanted to edit something in that right click menu, it wasn't in the Custom Actions anywhere, so I had a look around on the web and discovered anything in that menu not in the Custom Actions was hardcoded into XFCE. Something with 'xfdesktop' in it's name comes to mind, might have been where the code was found in relation to that menu? Can't remember now, it was a while ago. The people at the XFCE forum might be able to clarify for you. Re: What's the name of the software that creates a desktop URL link in LL3.2? - avj - 03-17-2017 When creating a url link, from the right click menu on the desktop in LL 2.8 there is a help button at the bottom of the pop-up box that takes you to the following link: http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/exo/4.10/start "Exo Exo is a support library used in the Xfce desktop. It also has some helper applications that are used throughout the entire desktop." http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/exo/4.10/preferred-applications "exo-open A simple command line frontend to the Xfce Preferred Applications framework is included, named exo-open. Users and developers can use this utility to launch the preferred application for a certain category or open URLs with the default URL handler." Hope that helps. ![]() Re: What's the name of the software that creates a desktop URL link in LL3.2? - m654321 - 03-17-2017 Cheers avj. The reason I asked the question was that I was wondering if I could create a desktop URL link in LMint in the same way as I do in LL. Hence the question about if the desktop URL link had a software name, but as you pointed out it is an integral part of the xfce desktop. In LMint (cinnamon desktop), I've found that all I need to do is highlight the URL and drag it to a blank space on the desktop to create the desktop link. I'm now using LMint on setup(1) in signature, until an official LL release with UEFI support is available. |
