suggestion: replace KeePassX with KeePass2 - LL-user - 07-23-2016

Hi,

I'd like to suggest to replace the currently via Lite Software offered Password Manager KeePassX with the original KeePass2.

Reasons:
  1. KeePass2 is by far more familiar to Windows users. It is even used in professional IT environments.

  2. KeePass2 offers a lot more features than KeePassX and can for example be integrated with Firefox via KeeFox.

  3. KeePass2 can also be easily installed, especially by using the ppa to stay updated.
Thanks for your consideration Smile

I did look into this at one point but then KeeFarce got released - http://arstechnica.com/security/2015/11/hacking-tool-swipes-encrypted-credentials-from-password-manager/ It would also be prudent to wait for an audit of their source code - https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/node/153614 to better protect our users. Cheers Smile

Good stuff, always fully research any software before installing it. That's my standard practice and the core reasons why I will never use or condone Windows or Apple technologies.

some updates on this topic:

Audit
https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/community/eu-fossa/news/eu-fossa-project-submits-results-code-audits
http://www.ghacks.net/2016/11/22/keepass-audit-no-critical-security-vulnerabilities-found/

most important here is the fact that Keepass and not Keepass2 got audited.

Fork
And another one ... sigh.
