Speech to txt software - dictation - newtusmaximus - 08-11-2015

Has anyone looked into this.  I am aware that earlier issues of Dragon software  are supposed to work on WINE.  I am relcyant to run VMware + XP  + Dragon as I have  low laptop resources.

Purpose - writing reports etc. SOHO

Thanks.

This might help.  It contains a list of open source and proprietary options.

Re: Speech to txt software - dictation - Ideally offline - newtusmaximus - 08-11-2015

Thanks,
I  had looked at this before posting and linked to a few of the suggestions.  However as a newbie,  with not time to trail blaze,  I was hoping someone might have looked into it in depth.
I note that there are already some supposedly good speech to txt apps for Android and therefore was hoping that either these could be made to run somehow on its bigger brother - linux - or there might be a cross over route.  Ideally, should be able to  use offline!

Have suggested several times that to Dragon customer services that they should co-operate with the WINE team so thet the former could be cross platform.

PS  Just come across this  http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-and-Run-Android-Apps-in-a-Linux-OS-477407.shtml

Anyone tried it??  Also with the supposed recently publicised vulnerability of Android to hacking, would running apps as per the link , expose LL to  potentailly the same threats??

There is a bunch out there.  Sadly, they are all way behind window codes.  Dragon N. S. is the standard for now.
