Search and ye shall find, I hope, - Golffinn - 04-13-2015 This is my first post. I have only recently been introduced to Linux and have a lot to learn. Being a silver surfer also means I am sometimes slow on the uptake but that is another story I have a meeting to attend tonight and I need to find a number of documents that contain similar themes. For instance say I have a hundred poems and 9 of them contain the word "dream". How can I out sort those 9 documents. It is a forlorn hope that this will be read and answered prior to the meeting but I have nothing to lose. :-[ Re: Search and ye shall find, I hope, - rijnsma - 04-13-2015 On the web or on your computer? Meaning, which type of documents do you store your poems in? Like plain text files (*.txt), Word files (*.doc), Open/LibreOffice files (*.odt)... and the list goes on. The type of file will determine which method for searching is best suited. Good luck with you meeting! ![]() Re: Search and ye shall find, I hope, - rokytnji - 04-14-2015 Code: $ locate dream ![]() Re: Search and ye shall find, I hope, - N4RPS - 04-15-2015 Hello!
