I personally prefer the Papirus icon theme. It is the most maintained icon theme I've seen from the few I use, fully functional in Linux Lite and offers support for dark, darker and light themes. Action buttons, devices, systray, etc etc.

I hear you Scott. I really like the "breathe" icon set on Ubuntu Unity but flat is the popular new thing these days.

Once spinning cubes and spheres and transparent apps and icons were the rage.

I'm allergic to Google!  If it's got their name on it I can't use it Big Grin

There are so many cool icon sets available now!  I would end up rotating them like wallpaper just to enjoy them all!

Anything materialistic, simple suits for me!

Regardless of which icon theme is default, I recommend sticking with word Menu for newbies and the icon with the feather on the black background like in the one from the LL home page for the menu.

I am definitely a fan of the flat, minimal, clean and modern design look. It is the direction that most current user interfaces have taken, moving away from the sculpted, faux-3D look. Because it's about being able to see what's important quickly, communicating clearly with minimal distraction, and looking good in the process. Material Design is one system that uses it, but they are not synonymous.

[member=6629]ralphy[/member] The Papirus icons look good, and being a well maintained system is important.
