Re: Ways to help promote Lite? - bitsnpcs - 07-12-2017 It sounds like you explained it very well ![]() My successful tries were telling people how they don't have to check for and do updates on OS and each software individually, and reboot every time for each, that it does all updates for OS and software at same time using Lite Install Updates, this idea they mostly don't believe at first, they are always really surprised at the updates speed too, they like Lite Install Updates a LOT. Some of them never done any updates on windows themselves, others done it for them, it gives them a real buzz that they can do it themselves now, and shows them they can use, and learn, in Linux things they couldn't manage in windows, right from the very start it shows them how user friendly LL is. Re: Ways to help promote Lite? - smhardesty - 07-12-2017 Thanks for the input, guys! Re: Ways to help promote Lite? - Artim - 07-12-2017 I think blogging is useful for spreading the word, on sites where people follow tags, hashtags, or subject terms like "old computers," "simple computer," etc. I'm not on Fakebook, but I promote LL on Diaspora where a lot of Linux geeks can be found, and I argue for simplicity, "ordinary users," and others to prefer to run applications instead of the operating system. Xfce fans like it, former Xubuntu users like it, even a few Mint/Xfce users have said it's faster. I have it on a laptop I use at school and am always answering questions about "that cool-looking desktop" that turns into a big ol' conversation about OSes and FOSS. I'm no geek! In fact I'm a little scared of technology, like Artim of the Baku (sorry, Star Trek reference). That's what makes Linux Lite so cool! Even a technophobic Baku boy can use it effortlessly and fearlessly. Re: Ways to help promote Lite? - newtusmaximus - 07-13-2017 One of the concerns I had before embarking on linux was what the office, email and graphics software would be like. I therefore ran Open Office -now Libre Office-Thunderbird, and Gimp on my windows desktop for some time to get used to them and build confidence etc. Then I tackled the linux switch over on a spare laptop and eventually stumbled upon LL, thanks to a business IT article ![]() Does LL have a Facebook or Twitter account, perhaps a Linked IN presencet to use as promotion to the SOHO and small business user. Does anyone know if SAGE software works on WINE??.?
