Re: Systemback (using BleachBit) = bad Idea - avj - 04-23-2016 Bleachbit is, according to Wikipedia, "a free and open-source disk space cleaner, privacy manager, and computer system optimizer.". The features can be seen at the following link. http://www.bleachbit.org/features I would not recommend using Bleachbit with sudo, without first creating a restore point with Systemback, and recommend that you don't try to use it to wipe free space from the HDD at all. See my previous post for links. Bleachbit is a powerful tool that if used incorrectly can trash your operating system. Re: Systemback (using BleachBit) = bad Idea - Wirezfree - 04-23-2016 @avj Completely agree... "Use with Caution" Many a person came un-stuck with "ccleaner" in Windows. Especially if they forgot to use the "back-up" feature ![]() Re: Systemback (using BleachBit) = bad Idea - LinuxNoob - 04-23-2016 (04-23-2016, 01:52 PM)Wirezfree link Wrote: @avj Oh now that I think about it when I used to use windows I have used a program called tweak-now and that was a program like Bleach-bit. Never had a problem with that program. I believe they used to color coordinate the results where you could be sure to only dabble in safe areas. Never used CCleaner. As for Bleach-bit I don't want to come off as someone poopooing on the software. Like I said before I enjoy testing new utilities. As a result forwarding results good or bad here is always a plus. btw 2.8 LL feels nice, as usual. Re: Systemback (using BleachBit) = bad Idea - Wirezfree - 04-23-2016 Yes, there are many tools/utils that can be used, It's about understanding what they do, and importantly what to do if something goes wrong.... I remember trying something in the early day's that made it easy to customise xfce menus Well that didn't quite go to plan, the more I tried to fix it, the worse it got.. So I re-installed. ![]() Lesson learn't |
