I am trying to install this printer on LL 2.0 with usb connection. The printer is showing in Printers - localhost but I am getting an error:
HP Device requires a proprietary xxx plug in, run hp plug in. (where xxx = word i can't decipher on my scrawl!!!)
I've searched this forum (there's one post) and googled ubuntu forums and tried everything (installing hplip etc) but no joy. I don't know where I am with it now. Can someone walk me through it step by step? I am comfortable with Terminal.
TIA.

Thanks that worked. I have bookmarked that page. I had downloaded the hplip via elsewhere. Don't know why it never worked but I used your link and it asked me if I wanted to uninstall and reinstall it so I said yes.
Oddly I had this printer on a same model machine (Dell D610) before running LL 2.2 or 2.4 and I installed it without fuss and, as I recall, without hplip. Certainly I never had the HP icon in my tray as I now do and never got the print messages that come up now but it's working and that is all I want so thanks again.
