I have loaded all the drivers from Brother support website.T he only thing I am getting to set up the network via terminal for the scanner.

Have you checked "Install Drivers", you can type this from the menu... It may listed under additional.
Also try searching synaptic for brother? I'm not at my LL box so I cannot confirm whats listed:(
- may want to try searching "scanner" for a generic driver???

It does look like Brother has Linux drivers available from their site...
