Hi,
I see Ask Bob Rankin has sent out an alert. There is a new USB threat involving Flash drives having infected firmware that can not be scanned for! They are suggesting you toss any Flash drives that have ever been plugged into a public computer! What is this gonna do to the Live Distro on a stick and portable programs market?
http://askbobrankin.com/alert_serious_se...0UHn7uP6SL
Do Linux users need to be concerned?
Thanks

Hi!
What driver should be used for this card?
product: RV710/M92 [Mobility Radeon HD 4530/4570/545v]Have tried Catalyst 13.1 but got this message.
Check if system has the tools required for installation.
fglrx installation requires that the system have kernel headers. /lib/modules/3.13.0-24-generic/build/include/linux/version.h cannot be found on this system.
One or more tools required for installation cannot be found on the system. Install the required tools before installing the fglrx driver.
Optionally, run the installer with --force option to install without the tools.
Forcing install will disable AMD hardware acceleration and may make your system unstable. Not recommended.Any help would be much appreciated!

Edit: No additional drivers are found under "Additional Drivers".
I am having a problem with LibreOffice crashing. Yesterday, I opened a MS spreadsheet with LibreOffice. I tried to save it as a xls spreadsheet but it crashed. I e-mailed the spreadsheet to save on my Mac and deleted it on my LL computer. Now when I try to open LibreOffice (any program in it), it offers to recover the document but can't. When I click "Finish" it just closes and will not continue on to open the program.
I would just uninstall then reinstall with Synaptic but the most recent updates say it is holding back some LibreOffice updates. There must be a good reason to hold back those updates.
So how should I solve this problem? :-\
When you run Install Updates command it opens the terminal, runs the update script and then closes the terminal:

How to prevent the terminal from closing? I have modified the command and it seems to be working ok but I would appreciate confirmation that my code is ok:
Original command:
x-terminal-emulator --geometry=95x25 -t "Linux Lite Updates" -e /usr/scripts/updatesModified command (the terminal remains open):
x-terminal-emulator --geometry=95x25 -t "Linux Lite Updates" -e "bash -c /usr/scripts/updates;bash"In addition I commented out the last line in the "updates" script itself, I'm not sure if it's really necessary:

He makes distro specific abstract wallpapers when asked nicely.

AntiX and MacPup. I just received this Dell XP2 Touchscreen Tablet/Netbook from Fedex this evening and felt
like letting you folks know what works on here.
This netbook has no hard drive yet, No power adapter, No pen (wacom type), but I could not pass it up for 50 bucks on ebay.

Like I said. Just got this netbook tonight. Made the USB. Registered and posted here.
I am GED educated. Own my own Bike Shop. I have some knowledge and can maneuver my way around a linux file
system comfortably. I am a tester on the teams I belong to. I moderate at a couple of forums also.
I am a crude, rude, and tattooed Linux Biker . But the developers I help luv me anyways.
I will help here when time allows. Presently there are other outdoor and distro commitments that take up my time.
But when a distro helps me out. I pay it forward. Nice job on this build folks. Me being a builder myself. I know the work involved.
Anyways, that is is me.
Happy Trails, Rok

Well 14 yrs of linux and I got to say this is the best one yet!!
Ubuntu was always good ,because it has awesome updates, and repositories, but it has become way to heavy, same thing with a lot of others... keeping things LITE! just seems to be the way Linux likes to run.... Don`t you agree?
My name is NANOBITE, if you have any questions feel free to ask..

My Wifi is working to my Router OK --I am connected to write this
I am not getting the Network Manager Icon on my Panel so I cannot see what other Wifi networks are available or turn-off wifi etc
Tried reinstalling the network managers in Synaptic
Did an upgrade
Tried http://www.webupd8.org/2014/04/fix-lubun...nager.html -- directed there from Ubuntu Forum
Quote:To fix the Network Manager not showing up on the panel issue, from the Lubuntu menu select Preferences > Default applications for LXSession, then click on the Autostart tab and under "Manual autostarted applications" type "nm-applet", then click the "+ Add" button on the left:
I used Session & Startup > Application Autostart > Add --in Linux-Lite 2 and Restarted

While I appreciate the power of this program and other lightweight graphics programs (for example mtpaint) does it belong in this distro, where the front page of the website propounds LL's 'simple intuitive design'? To me, it's interface is quirky and grates with the other programs that ship with LL. Given that GIMP is included and that it can do most if not all of what ImageMagick can, what purpose does the latter serve?
Please understand that this is just feedback, not criticism.. I can happily ignore the program or remove it
Paul
PS Whether or not it belongs in LL, I don't understand why it's menu entry has '(display)' after the program name - what does that mean?
Another UK user here.
I've used Puppy on and off since 2005, Fedora six months or so then Mint 13 & 17 for the last year or so (which we now use at work instead of Windows). I bought a new laptop a few months back when I decided to stop using Windows at home and I've been looking for something stable with LTS, so probably Ubuntu based, but more nimble than Mint. From what I've seen so far Linux Lite seems to fit the bill nicely
Paul
