LL 6.4 Won't Install on Old HP Laptops. |

I've been trying to install LL 6.2 on old HP laptops, and it won't install. I tried Mint 21.1 xfce and that doesn't work either. The installation process seems to work normally, but when I reboot I get Disk Error: No System Disk, or something similar. Both distros work fine on a generic desktop, 3.3GHz, dual core CPU, 4GHz DD3 RAM. Yet I've installed LL 5.4 on the HP laptops and various desktops with complete success.
The laptop models are: Hp7630s 2GHz 2 core CPU and 3GHz RAM, HP6930p 2.2GHz 2 core CPU and 4GHz RAM, and HP455a 2.6GHz 2core CPU and 8GHz RAM. This has been incredibly frustrating, I've done some 15 to 20 installations over the last 2 days. At first I thought the bootable USB thumb drives were corrupted, but they install perfectly on the above generic desktop as a dual boot, LL6.2 first, Mint 21.1 second. I can't find Secure Boot, or anything with similar wording, in the laptop BIOS's.
I was hoping that I would be able to "save" the HP laptops, (and all my PC's) with Linux. I was intending to use Windows 10 for offline use only, and not to bother with W11 at all. Over the years, I've collected a library of W10 applications that install and work without the Internet. I have a PC that has been working with W10 offline for about 3 1/2 years. LL has been my daily driver for just over two years, and I'm most impressed.
One possibility, if I'm desparate, would be to make bootable USB thumb drives with persistence, assuming that's possible.
I believe there's something in the latest LL and Mint distros that is incompatible with old HP laptops, having tried three, dating from 2008 to 2013. Pity, as there are a lot of old HP laptops around.
Queries:
1. Is there a fix for using LL Series 6 with old HP laptops?
2.a. Can I make a bootable USB thumb drive with persistence for LL6.x?
2.b. If so, will a persistent USB allow me to get rid of Chrome, install Firefox or Falkon browser, install other packages and change and keep any settings made in browsers on the thumb drive?

Peace be upon you.
I have been using LL for almost a year on a rescued laptop. Never really need any help from the forums because it was easy to use. Until now. Changing my dead HDD to SSD but snagged a few hitches

Installing LL 6.6 after having used LL 5.0 |

So I’m not sure if I should post here or under the UEFI section. Let me provide some background. I help disadvantaged students in South Africa when I am in the country for 6 months. Many of the old laptops I use are 32 bit, however I’m getting more donated 64 bit laptops. On the 64 bit laptops I have been able to use the more recent LL releases. I’m a veterinarian and not in IT as such much of what I’ve learned and do with these laptops is self taught and aided by LL forum members. All to say that I may need some advice clarified due to my basic computer literacy!
Essentially I have noticed that on two of these 64 bit laptops when I have turned them on after having been unused for a long period (AND I suspect the batteries have depleted FULLY) the BIOS menu shows on the screen and it does not boot into LL 5.0 which it HAD been running without issue before.
1) In the Asus X554 (64 bit, i7, RAM 12, HD 1T) it would not show the USB option for booting even though I had the USB plugged in. I then tried to find the area where I could enable Legacy boot as this has worked before, but could not find this choice.i did however enable CSM and enabled the line below which also had something to do with CSM. I then exited, saved and clicked on restart upon which it booted from the ISO USB. LL 6.6 loaded and updated successfully. Interestingly when I loaded LL 6.6 it recognizes that LL 5.0 was on the HD as it asked if I wanted LL 6.6 along side 5.0 or to erase the HD and load 6.6. I did the latter.
While it is charging/plugged in I shut it down and rebooted it and all is fine. I will experiment to see if the charge is fully depleted does the same thing happen AND if so, since LL 6.6 is there, how do I get it to boot from what’s on the HD..(?).
2) on an Acer Aspire R3 131T, it has done the same. I thought last year the HD died when I saw it go directly to the boot menu so switched I out the HD, it was running LL 5.0 and when I reloaded LL using a different HD I couldn’t reload 5.0 so just loaded LL 3.8 which was fine, when I returned this year to it (battery depleted) it only showed the bios menu. I was able to switch to Legacy boot on this laptop and it loaded fine and so far so good. Again I suspect if the battery gets depleted it might do the same thing. It too recognized that Ll 3.8 was on the HD.
My concerns are if this happens when a student is using it and when I’m not physically here. I’d like to document the steps necessary to get it to boot into the LL 6.6 that they are currently running such that I might be able to walk a student through the steps.
Any ideas on:
1) why this is happening, is it about he battery being depleted?
2) how to avoid this..?
3) the steps I can do if the bios shows up again when it’s started up?

Hi everybody.Yesterday I installed Linux lite, but I have a concern that it is not suitable for my computer.I have 8 GB of RAM, a 6-core processor and 234 SSDs.My question is, what are the minimum requirements for linux lite? It's just why I asked this question, because I don't know if the system requirements that are listed on the site are still relevant. Thanks for attention.I am writing through a translator

Bootable USB for multiple ISOs |

Someone posted a desire to have a USB with partitions so that they could test various distros using the one USB. Since it was about 6 months ago it was suggested I post my reply as a new topic.
I recently wished to do the same and I found Ventoy which works on Windows, Mac and Linux. There’s a great YouTube video that describes what to do (I can find it if someone is interested as it seems some people struggle with making a Linux bootable USB).
https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html
I just successfully put two LL ISOs on my stick and may add more, it’s great. The only thing I’d suggest is that once you make the Ventoy USB, eject it then put it back in to then drag the ISOs over into it.
