Thanks for your answer. I have been using ImageShack QuickShot exclusively for a few years with Windows XP and it would open images always at 100% unless you changed it in settings. I somehow assumed that other screenshot programs are configured the same way, but it appears that lots of them actually resize the image by default.

I have signed up with imgur.com. As expected it is way better than ZimageZ and the issue of blurred screenshots is also resolved. When you open an imgur.com web page with a blurred image all what you need to do is to left click anywhere on the page and it will zoom out to 100% (see my second link above). At least that's how it works with Firefox 30.0.

I have also opened a thread about screenshot utilities that sync with imgur.com service on Ubuntu forums:

  • MEMORY: 32Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1650

  • Kernel: 5.x

And this is the issue I'm talking about. When the image is saved as a file in a folder and you open it with Ristretto it will not open at 100% zoom but at 83%, 87% (or somewhere around that) and you have to hit Ctrl+0 (or hit "1" icon) to bring it up to 100% manually. Only sub-windows, like the ones found in settings (the second link in my first post) open at 100% right away. I want all screenshot files to always open at 100%.

The image from my first link is blurred because it was not transmitted to ZimageZ at 100%. The image from the second link (of settings sub-window) is not blurred because it was transmitted at 100%. Both links are from ZimageZ service.

I'll try Imgur, it's probably a better hosting service than ZimageZ. I also have ImageShack and Photobucket accounts, but that's a topic for a separate thread.

Sub windows open at 100% because they fit within your screen resolution eg. if you have an image that is 600x400px and your screen is 1366x768, then that image will easily open at 100% because the image is smaller than your screen resolution. If you opened a picture that was 1920x1080 then you would not see it at 100% because your screen res. is lower. Maybe someone knows of an image program that opens all images at 100% but as far as I know, Ristretto does not.

It's the zimagez.com website that is blurring your image because it has applied scaling to your picture, save the image to your home folder and upload it to imgur.com, then you'll see it in full resolution. When you open your screenshot with Ristretto, click on the magnifying glass with the number '1' in it to see the image at 100% :)

When I take a screenshot with Xfce4-screenshooter half of the time the image is blurred. It seems to depend on the type of window which is active.

Full window - blurred image:

www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-06302014-024639am.php

Sub-window - no blurring:

http://www.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot-06302014-042543am.php

When you save the screenshot file on the hard drive and open it with Ristretto you can see that the image was not saved with the zoom at 100% but at 70%, 80%, etc. Is there a way to force Xfce4-screenshooter to always save images at 100% zoom?
