Sorry for the very late reply to this thread......but I wanted to post the resolve in case others have a similar issue. I ended up uninstalling wine from the system and reinstalling wine from scratch. Once done, the Outpost PM app was reinstalled and everything worked fine. So, wine appeared to be the culprit in this case.

hm, one option gone then :(

Beside trying Devilspie (1) you also still have the options to (2) backup your .wine folder and run a test with wine from scratch OR (3) run the system with only one screen active. I'd prefer testing the two latter ones first before installing more software. But that's just me :)

Hummmmm, well I tried the first option of emulating a virtual desktop last night with no luck. The desktop came up but no app was visible. So not sure if devilspie would help or not.....i can sure try.

The app is called OutpostPM....it is a ham radio packet client and usually runs fine in Wine....until last night....LOL.

What is the name of the program you are trying to run?

You might want to look at these two options:

1) Activating "Emulate a virtual desktop" in Wine configuration -> Graphics

2) Giving Devilspie a try (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Devilspie)

Yep....deleted the app data folder and all. I have just un-installed and re-installed twice with same results. The other interesting tidbit is that my other 3 wine apps run just fine. It is just this one app that refuses to show up after starting.....

May have to just bag it if a resolve doesn't present itself....

Hm, it is...

Have you also deleted the app data folder, i.e. where your personal settings of this app are stored? Just re-installing it is usually still picking up from where you've left.

If there is no other option - hopefully someone else can enlighten us :) - I would rename the .wine folder in your home directory and start wine and the app installation from scratch and see what happens.

That is what is odd....there is no button for it on the taskbar, like other apps. I even tried un-installing the app and the reinstalling the app after deleting all its folders from wine. Same results. Something must have gotten tweaked with the app in some way....allowing it to run with no button. Very bizarre....

Hi Ken,

Are you able to locate it on the panel (Windows Buttons)?
If yes, have you tried to right click on it and test the "Maximize" or "Move" option? The window might just sit outside the visible area from the last time you've used it.

Hi folks,

I have an interesting issue crop up this evening.....I was changing out my dual screens and switching them around. Everything seems fine with all apps excepts one wine app i run. For some reason, after the splash comes up on the main monitor, the application never shows up. It is visible in the task manager as running, but is not visible on either monitor. I have tried shifting the monitors around in the Nvidia set to try and find the app, but cannot locate it.

Anyone have some ideas had to get the app back on the main monitor.....or at the very least force wine apps to run on the main monitor, so I can find this app? ???

Thanks.

Ken
